Northern Virginia
AVA Magic Field Hockey Club — Alexandria
AVA Magic is a youth field hockey club based in Alexandria City.
The organization says it launched its first two recreational teams in fall 2022 and has since expanded to recreational and competitive travel teams.
For the 2026–27 season, AVA Magic lists U10, U12, U14 and U16 opportunities.

Hammers Field Hockey — Leesburg & Sterling
Hammers Field Hockey offers recreational and competitive travel field hockey in Northern Virginia.
The organization says its outdoor training is held at Philip A. Bolen Park in Leesburg and its indoor training at Dulles Sportsplex in Sterling.
Its recreational program serves players from Pre-K through eighth grade, regardless of experience. Hammers also fields competitive girls travel teams from U8 through U19.

Prestige Field Hockey — Stafford

Its current website lists skills and development programming for athletes of different experience levels, along with position-specific training and competitive opportunities.

Relentless Field Hockey Club — Richmond
Relentless Field Hockey is based in Richmond and offers programming ranging from introductory field hockey through competitive travel.

Current offerings listed on the site include youth hockey, youth camps, prospect clinics and tournaments.

Virginia Beach
Focus Field Hockey — Virginia Beach
Focus operates a Virginia Beach field hockey program with regular-season training and additional development and tournament opportunities.
Focus says its Virginia Beach regular season is offered four times per year. Its Summer 2026 program included separate sessions for players in grades 1–6 and grades 7–12 at Cape Henry Collegiate.
Its Spring 2026 program also offered programming from first through twelfth grade, with opportunities differentiated by experience.

How Should Parents Choose a Virginia Field Hockey Program?
For most families, we think the starting point is simple:
Find legitimate programs that are reasonably close to home.
A young player develops through practices, games and training over time. That means travel distance and schedule can matter just as much as the name of the club.
Once you’ve identified nearby programs, ask each organization directly about:
- Your player’s age and experience level
- Beginner versus travel opportunities
- Current practice locations
- Practice frequency
- Tryouts
- Tournament commitments
- Travel expectations
- Current fees
- Seasonal schedules
A child trying field hockey for the first time has very different needs from an experienced high-school player looking for competitive travel opportunities.
The goal isn’t simply to find the most competitive program.
It’s to find a program that makes sense for your player and your family.
Virginia Beach Has a National Field Hockey Presence
Virginia Beach is also a significant location on the USA Field Hockey calendar.
The 2026 USA Field Hockey National Club Championship was held June 22–30 at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center.
Teams qualified through Regional Club Championships to participate in the U14 Girls, U16 Girls and U19 Girls divisions.
USA Field Hockey’s historical event information shows Virginia Beach hosting the National Club Championship from 2021 through 2026. Virginia Beach was also scheduled as the 2020 location, although that event was not held because of COVID-19.
USA Field Hockey also scheduled several other national-level events in Virginia Beach during 2026, including the National Indoor Festival and Junior and Senior Nexus Championships.
